Wide Open Windows is a gracious, open invitation from Ton Haarmans into direct experience, uncomplicated, unobstructed and uncompromising. Knowing without the overlay of beliefs and assumptions, with thoughtful reflections and insights on the nature of the human experience. Be sure to dive into the evocative "Experience" within the "Dark Spirit". It is a beautiful reminder of THIS, exactly as it is.

Ton Haarmans’ website, Wide Open Windows, shines a spotlight on epistemology—what can be known and how—in ways that can raise proper doubts, discourage premature certainty, and open doors to discovering one's own mind. Highly recommended.

“The site isn't pushing a view. It's more like a space left open. Essays that wander into non-duality, darkness, rhizomes, consciousness… But not in a rigid or academic way. They breathe. They hesitate. They wonder.

"No Doubt" sets the tone — not certainty, not belief — just a gentle loosening. Not asking you to adopt anything, just to look and maybe see what's underneath the looking.

What moved me most was the section called Dark Spirit. It's not trying to resolve the dark. It invites you into it. As though darkness isn't absence, but presence without form. It's something you feel in the chest more than the mind.

There's no urgency here. No system. Just thoughts appearing and dissolving — like clouds in a wide sky. The "Rhizome" piece touches on that — this sense of movement without centre, without hierarchy.

It feels aligned with what I've come to value: simplicity, openness, a refusal to turn truth into structure.

To me, Wide Open Windows doesn't try to lead. It walks beside. And in that space, something still and wordless can be felt.

Thank you, Ton.”

“Not only is it filled with reflections that are poetic and piercing—resonating without ever pretending to offer answers—but the site itself is a beautifully crafted work of art that perfectly mirrors the tone of its content. It's a space to return to again and again, inviting quiet contemplation and revealing new nuances with each visit. ❤ ”

“There are some very intriguing writings and the website is presented in a very impactful manner befitting its topic. 'If "everything is consciousness," then what are we really talking about? The term becomes meaningless. And if no one knows what experience truly is, what life is, or what the universe is — there is no ("hard") problem. It doesn't need solving. It is lived.' I shall revisit it again I am certain. 🌸🌸🌸 ”
